As an Experienced Therapist, Shawn is a highly qualified healthcare services professional with autonomous licensure in the state of Kentucky. Shawn's licensure is as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor-Supervisor, and he specializes in dual diagnosis and substance use disorders. Shawn has significant experience in adult general mental health and providing clinical supervision.
His previous role as a Clinical Supervisor/Therapist at Kentucky Psychiatry in Bowling Green, KY, he provided private practice outpatient therapy and clinical supervision. The population at this site consists mostly of highly qualified professionals and college students with general mental health needs. He provides individual therapy via tele-health and in-person, frequently completing assessments.
Prior to his previous role, he worked as a Therapist at Lifeskills Inc in Scottsville, KY, where he was the lead therapist on a federal SAMHSA Drug Court grant through a non-profit rural community mental health agency. For the first two years, he worked solely with Drug Court clients while specializing in dual diagnosis. He provided consultations and recommendations twice a week with local circuit court judges and drug court staff in Allen, Simpson, and Edmonson County, KY. He completed a variety of assessments and provided group, family, and individual therapy. He also provided DUI assessments and therapeutic services.
Before his work at Lifeskills Inc, he interned as a Therapist/Intern at Hilltop Counseling Services in Bowling Green, KY. He provided DUI services and parenting classes, and facilitated group and individual therapy. He also worked as a Case Manager in Leitchfield, KY, where he facilitated communication between all service providers involved, providing a wraparound service environment for clients to be supported to prevent an increase in level of care. He linked outlets of assistance for basic needs, coordinating services and specific needs to increase stabilization.
Shawn earned his Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development from Lindsey Wilson College in 2017 and Bachelor's from Western Kentucky University in 2015. He possesses skills in Clinical Supervision, Group Therapy, Individual Psychotherapy, and Assessment. He is also a DUI Assessor in the State of KY.
Shawn enjoys time with his wife Morgan and 4 year old son. He also enjoys time with his 2 dogs, Rip and Teeter. Much of his free time is spent hobby farming, hunting, and athletics.
